Mental Health Week 2023 – community activities at Coolock

Coolock students and staff celebrated Mental Health Week with a range of lunchtime activities from Monday 9 – Friday  13 October.

Monday: Pickleball Competition in the Gym

Monday’s lunchtime Pickleball Competition got the week off to an active start. Not only did students and staff enjoy playing, they also enjoyed being in the new stadium at the recently opened Mercy Junortoun Sporting Precinct.

Tuesday: Library Competitions – Connect 4 and Uno

The library was alive with Connect 4 and Uno enthusiasts, enjoying friendly round robin competitions with prizes to be won.

Wednesday: Community Picnic in McAuley Square

Students and staff alike were asked to bring a picnic rug and enjoy lunch together. Thank you to headspace for their attendance. Students also enjoyed free fresh fruit and were entertained by the CMC Band on stage.

Thursday 12 October: Staff v Student Netball game

The highly anticipated annual Coolock Staff vs. Students Netball match was held on the courts of the Mercy Junortoun Sporting Precinct. The teams competed for the Coolock Mental Health Week Cup. and the match specifically promoted the positive impact of physical activity on mental health.

In a tight contest, featuring plenty of laughter and skill, it was the staff who prevailed 13-9 over the students. Thanks to all staff and students who participated in the event, including players, umpires, scores and spectators.

Friday: Meditation/Yoga session in the Drama Room

The meditation and yoga session was a relaxing way to head into the weekend.
