Intermediate Girls

The Intermediate Girls team made the trek to Swan Hill for the Loddon Mallee Region finals on Wednesday 26 July. The girls were a bit worried about losing some key players the night before, especially after seeing the St Joseph’s College, Mildura team warming up. However, Neve Pinner sorted the girls out, producing a world-class warm-up to get everyone firing, and then they were on, right from the first bounce in the first game. The girls dominated play and kept St Joe’s at bay for most of the game. It was an impressive first match from the girls as they went on to secure a great win CMC 4.3.27 to St Joseph’s 1.0.6.

Goals: N. Pinner 2 and T. Skipper 2

In the second game, the girls were up and about. After watching the Intermediate Boys get done in the last 30 seconds of their game, the girls knew they had a lot to play for to make the Swan Hill trip worthwhile. This was their time to show their dominance in the competition, as they hit the scoreboard early. They were brilliant in all aspects of the match, and never took the pressure off St Joseph’s College, Echuca, as they piled on seven goals. It was a clinical performance that the coach was proud of. The final score was CMC 7.6.48 defeated St Joseph’s 1.0.6

Goals: T. Skipper 4, N Pinner 2 and L. Nihill 1

The final game for the girls was their chance to cement their spot in the State Qualifying Finals to be held in Ballarat. The girls played Swan Hill College, who started with plenty of run from the very first bounce. This initial burst from the opposition was the only time the girls looked to be in trouble. Within minutes, however, the CMC juggernaut settled and found a way to negate the Swan Hill attacking style of play. The girls not only gained control of the match but went on to score their highest total of the day to take momentum and confidence into the next rounds. The final score was CMC 7.8.50 defeated Swan Hill 1.1.7
