Celebrating Mental Health Week 2022

26/08/2022

CMC will be celebrating Mental Health Week from Monday 5 – Friday 9 September. We will be focusing on the 5 Ways to Wellbeing, with student and staff activities aligned to the five areas:

  • Be Active
  • Connect
  • Be Aware
  • Keep Learning
  • Help Others

To promote being active, we will be awarding the Mental Health Week Cup at the Staff versus Student Netball lunchtime matches (St Mary’s Monday & Coolock Tuesday).

Our music students will have lunch time rocking with Rock in the Quad (Coolock Monday) and Rock on the Steps (St Mary’s Friday) to encourage our students to take notice.

Headspace will be visiting both campuses to raise awareness of mental health within our community. Our Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) students will run a barbeque at St Mary’s, with money raised being given to Mercy Works to help others (St Mary’s Tuesday).

We will celebrate R U OK? Day on Thursday, where students are encouraged to wear a touch of yellow and to connect with each other by checking in on their friends.

To encourage our community to keep learning, on Friday our senior students are encouraged to join in the Pickleball Competition at St Mary’s and our junior students are encouraged to try a Meditation Session at Coolock.

There will also be week-long challenges to get involved with during Mental Health Week, including a Staff versus Student Movement Challenge and an Acts of Kindness Challenge.
