Year 9s programming vehicles with Logo Mindstorms

Year 9 Digital Technology students have been tasked with creating and programming vehicles with Lego Mindstorms. One student, Thomas, was not satisfied with wheels and opted for Caterpillar tracks.

With a mix of logic and trial and error, Thomas developed a tracked vehicle that he controlled from his computer.

“The machine kept turning to the left, so I turned down the power in the right from 100 to 80. Now it goes straight.” He said.

Teacher Dean Carmody was very pleased with the level of application of the whole class. The next step is adding sensors and making the vehicles do a specific job.
