Year 9 News – 5 June 2025

03/06/2025

Congratulations to Cohen Barker who showed his award-winning video My Mob, My Place at our last assembly. Cohen submitted his video to the recent YO Bendigo 2025 Koorie Youth Flick Fest competition and was announced as a winner at the recent screening and launch of the Central Victorian Indigenous Film Festival. Cohen was happy to share his film with his peers.

It was a pleasure to see so many of our student cohort at the recent Careers Expo held at St Mary’s.  Amelia Kelly provided a brief overview during our assembly, highlighting some of the stalls and encouraging all students to attend next year. Following this event, students will have three upcoming sessions with staff from St Mary’s, focusing on Careers, Pathways, and Subject Selection for 2026. These sessions will take place in Weeks 8, 9, and 10 of this term. It is encouraging to see students already excited about the expanded subject options for Year 10, as well as the possibilities for acceleration and future pathway planning.

Congratulations to the following students who have been recognised for their academic achievement for Term 1: Knox Hamilton, Mia Geary, Franceska Cyrille Valerio, Kelly Ginnivan and Grace Lamb.

Students are reminded to monitor due dates, as many subjects are concluding topics and assessments in the coming weeks.  Check SIMON and be aware of criteria set by viewing the associated rubrics.

Good luck to all those performing this week in the College production of The Adams Family.  An opportunity for creative performing artists to shine with support of the backstage crew.
