Year 8 News – 5 June 2025

03/06/2025

Our Year 8 students had a productive week in the Food Technology room. This week, they designed their own pizzas. Several weeks earlier, they selected the ingredients they wished to include. On Tuesday, they prepared their pizza bases from scratch using a simple dough made with Greek yogurt and flour. They then kneaded the dough and shaped it for their customized toppings. The activity was well received and successful. In their theory classes, students will be comparing frozen pizza to their homemade versions, analyzing nutritional values and sensory characteristics.

The end-of-semester assessments have commenced and will continue in the upcoming weeks. We appreciate the efforts many students have demonstrated throughout the semester.

We have been actively working with students to promote kindness and respectful communication. This week, our focus was on understanding “When is a joke appropriate?” emphasising the importance of considerate language. As a community, we aim to reduce bullying and foster an environment where all students feel safe and respected. It is essential that students reflect on their own behavior as a foundation for positive interactions.

Mrs Kim Greenwell (Year Level Coordinator), Mrs Marine Snyman (Year Level Learning Leader) and Jenni McGrath (Learning Diversity Leader) have conducted positive interviews with our Student Support Group learners and their parents/carers. We sincerely thank the parents/carers who are actively contributing to creating a supportive and safe environment for their children and for your ongoing partnership with the school.
