Year 8 News – 28 August 2025

26/08/2025

The Year 8 cohort has been making fantastic progress this term, with students showing great engagement and creativity across their learning. A recent highlight is the English Department’s excursion to the Tech School, where students explore the concept of the Hero’s Journey in an exciting and hands-on way. They plan, design, and record educational videos to help next year’s Year 8s understand this narrative structure. Using a range of professional filming spaces -including green screens, LED backgrounds, the balcony, and various seating areas – students bring their stories to life with energy and imagination.

We’d like to extend a sincere thank you to all students and families for their support in completing subject selections. Receipts of selected subjects will be printed and distributed shortly for parent/carer signatures, which will need to be returned to school. We appreciate everyone’s patience during this process as we work to finalise Year 9 electives.

There have been a number of co-curricular sport events that the Year 8s have competed in at state level during the past couple of months. These include soccer, cross country, football and netball. All of our Year 8s involved have represented the school with fierce competitiveness and integrity. We are so proud of their efforts and dedication! Whilst on the topic of sport, as the winter season wraps up, we wish all students who are competing in finals all the best and good luck!

As we pass the halfway mark of the term, we encourage students to stay focused, keep up their hard work, and finish the term strongly!
