Year 8 News – 11 September 2025

10/09/2025

It’s been an incredibly busy fortnight, with assessments being held across most curriculum areas. This can be a stressful time for our Year 8s, particularly when balancing sport, social lives, and everything else that’s important for a 14-year-old! There are several students who have demonstrated effective study habits and an exemplary application to learning; and they are thriving. It’s always an opportunity for our students to reflect on how they can continue to get better every day and strive for their own level of excellence.

The Year 8 teachers were excited to re-connect at yesterdays Student-led Conferences. Thank you to everyone who booked meetings, they were very valuable to your child’s learning or wellbeing.

Mercy Day is fast approaching – Friday 19 September. The Year 8 core groups are engaging in a competition to donate the most chocolates as prizes for our Balloon Dart Throwing stall. Please continue to donate chocolates, it is appreciated immensely and contributes to a fantastic day of celebration, with all funds raised going to Mercy Works for the Remote Laundry Project! We have already had lots of donations, thank you to those families. The core group that raises the most individually-wrapped chocolates, scores a free hot chip lunch courtesy of the Year Level Coordinator Team! Please encourage your children to get into the spirit of dressing up… if you need some inspiration, here is a picture of Mr Code, Mr Coghlan, Mr Mylon and Mr Hann last year.
