Year 8 Boys Football

The Year 8 boys participated in the Sandhurst Football Competition held at the newly-opened Mercy Junortoun Sporting Precinct. The weather was perfect and the grounds were in immaculate condition. Our boys played four round robin matches against Crusoe College, Girton Grammar, Bendigo South East College and Marist College Bendigo. The team jelled early, led by Adam Holland in the ruck, captain Jake Rosa and vice-captain Patrick McNamara. The forwards competed well in the air and at ground level all da, hitting the scoreboard regularly. Due to their dominant work through the midfield, the defence was rarely tested and rebounded well when faced with entries from the opposition. Our boys finished the day undefeated and, more pleasingly, played each game with great sportsmanship and respect for their teammates, opposition and officials. The team will compete in the regional stage in Term 3, pitting their skills against other finalists from the Loddon Mallee Region.
