Year 11 Camp 2023 – Kyneton

31/08/2023

At the top of Wright Street, with the sun shining, camp started. What a great two days we were in for! A quick ride down the highway had us at PGL Campaspe Downs, where we were greeted with rare sunshine in Kyneton. With no time wasted we were straight into the fun activities they had lined up for us.

Over the next two days, the Year 11 cohort (and even some game teachers) participated in fun, scary, team building and sometimes confronting activities. The activities included abseiling, the giant swing, leap of faith, flying fox, laser tag and a REACH session. Pushing our boundaries was worth it when we succeeded and saw others in our small groups being proud of us.

When we woke the next morning, didn’t we all get a reality check? Kyneton weather showed us what it is really like – frost, frozen water taps and temperatures that would make you think we were in the snow. That didn’t stop us from having a hearty breakfast and getting straight into a day filled with fun, laughs and plenty of screams.

Some highlights of the camp included the REACH Session, Miss Moulds and Miss Binns on the giant swing (yes, everyone heard you scream), Mr Hughes launching off the leap of faith (we’re sure the squealing was heard in Bendigo) and the joy on people’s faces as they pushed through the initial fear and showed their resilience.

Many thanks go out to all the PGL Campaspe Downs staff, the CMC school staff, all the students who came along and all the behind-the-scenes effort put into making this camp a success.
