Year 10 Work Experience – September 2025

01/10/2025

Through work exposure, students are able to explore potential future career pathways and gain valuable insight into the options available to them, supporting more informed and confident decision-making about their futures.

Work experience plays a vital role in helping students understand the evolving nature of the workforce, the differences between various occupations and industries, and the skills and personal qualities required for success in both work and life. It offers students the chance to identify and practise these skills in diverse environments, reinforcing the relevance and importance of their ongoing learning.

Below is some feedback from our Year 10 students following their recent Work Placements. Overall feedback had been very positive and we have a few students who have gained part-time employment as a result of their placements.

How has this placement helped you to clarify your career goals?

“It has given me a better understanding of the job required to be a physio. I realised how much I enjoy helping people and how rewarding this job is”. Callan Orr at Kieser Bendigo

“I went into the school believing I would not make a good teacher, now I’m considering becoming one. It helped me establish my strengths as a worker”. Macey Rae at St Liborius Primary School

Describe the most valuable things you learned during your work placement:

“I learnt how to mix concrete, install irrigation systems and prepare the soil. I learnt the importance of working hard and being organised”. Cooper Williams at Simo Rosa Landscaping

“I learnt what the job of a Vet Nurse involves and what procedures and surgeries they undertake. I also learned about how the business is run and what it is like to be in the vet surgery when there is a severely injured animal brought in. I discovered some of my limits with what I am comfortable watching, giving me an idea of what I would be able to do”. Mikayla Gladman at Furlife Vet Eaglehawk Road.
