Year 10 Camp in Melbourne 2023

20/07/2023

For Year 10 Camp, students will visit Melbourne for three days to immerse in activities and experiences themed on Compassion, Culture and Careers. Participation in this camp experience provides a significant connection to our Virtues curriculum from both Semester 1 and Semester 2. The Year 10 Camp is a memorable and significant highlight of the student’s Year 10 experience at CMC and all students are expected to attend.

Camp 1: Monday 24 July – Wednesday 26 July

  • STUDENT ADVOCATE GROUPS: Ms Coles, Mrs Tasca, Mr Mattinson, Ms Williams, Ms Bell, Ms Allen, Ms Dowling

Camp 2: Wednesday 26 July – Friday 28 July

  • STUDENT ADVOCATE GROUPS: Miss Moloney, Mr Greenwood, Mrs Boxshall, Mrs Tonini, Mrs Trimble, Mr Bowles, Ms Simpson

Due to the number of students and the restrictions on the numbers able to visit certain venues, students are not able to swap camp groups. Students have been allowed to nominate peers to share accommodation with and every attempt will be made to allocate a room with at least one of the nominated peers, provided they are on the same camp.

While on camp, all students will be accommodated at the Miami Hotel, West Melbourne.

When students aren’t on camp, they will have an alternative program for the other two days of the week. The ‘Flipped Learning’ days will see students complete work and activities from home assigned by their subject teachers, to maintain a continuity of learning while having classes spread between the two camp groups. While the intensive days will see students engage in timely sessions on topics that are critical to their development and support students with making informed decisions about subject selections.

Students may attend the St Mary’s campus on the Flipped Learning days to attend their VCE and/or VET classes, and can complete the rest of their Flipped Learning either from home or in the St Mary’s library.
