Works at St Mary’s to enhance learning pathways

22/02/2019

Building works at St Mary’s are progressing well. The exciting re-development of the 2-storey Kelly Building has now reached the plastering stage and the work is on track for completion at the end of Term 1.

The commercial kitchen area downstairs will include twenty-two student work stations and adjoining areas for theory-based lessons, providing new opportunities for food technology and hospitality pathways. All St Mary’s students will be able to enjoy the new indoor canteen and servery area as well as indoor and outdoor student dining spaces and terraced outdoor seating areas.

Allied Health is a growth area for learning at Catherine McAuley College with our 2018 graduate results amongst the top marks in the state for this subject. Our partnership with Mercy Health will provide pathways into the industry and the new facilities will further enhance learning. The Allied Health area includes five hospital beds, one of which will include an overhead bariatric hoist. There is also an adjoining learning area for theory-based lessons

At Catherine McAuley College we pride ourselves on providing pathways that cater for a wide range of student interests, both in their learning at school and their plans for study and work beyond school. The new Allied Health facilities, commercial kitchen and associated learning spaces will greatly enhance opportunities for our students.
