VCE Extended Investigation Excursion

On Friday 15 February, VCE Extended Investigation students visited Melbourne to attend the first ever Top Talks held at the State Library of Victoria. The Top Talks consisted of four high-performing students from the 2018 cohort that had been selected by examiners to present their 8-10-minute Research Presentation for the audience. This provided our students with actual examples of what the end of the year holds for them. An additional speaker invited was the Dux of the course in 2017 and is currently studying at university. They were able to provide important information about how the Extended Investigation course had been invaluable for their university tasks and experiences. There was also a very informative Q&A session at the end.

After the Top Talks, students spent the next two hours exploring the State Library’s resources – finding books they had placed on reserve and new resources. Overall the day was a wonderful experience and highly valuable.
