Subject Selection for 2024

The subject selection process is significant in the lives of our students. It is often seen as an exciting time when students can make choices based on their interests and future pathways. It can also be a challenging time, with students requiring support to work through the range of options open to them.

Subject Selection Information Evening

Tuesday 18 July, 6.oo–8.30pm, Marian Centre, St Mary’s Campus, Barkly Street

The evening will feature Subject displays and the opportunity to talk to teachers and Learning Leaders across these subjects for students in Years 9 to 12, 2024. Further information can be found on the Subject Course Guide website.

Students undertaking Year 9, 10, VCE and VCE Vocational Major in 2024 will select a compulsory Information Session to attend with their parents and carers. In addition, there will be subject displays and the opportunity to talk to teachers in the Marian Gymnasium between 6.00 and 8.30pm.

Students who will be in Year 12 in 2024 are invited to attend the displays and talk to teachers to discuss their programs.

Year 9 (2024) – ST MARY’S LIBRARY
For current Year 8 students with parents/carers

  • Session 1: 6.00-6.20pm
  • Session 2: 6.30-6.50pm

Year 10 (2024) – MARIAN THEATRE
For current Year 9 students with parents/carers

  • Session 1: 6.00-6.35pm
  • Session 2: 6.40-7.15pm

Year 11 VCE (2024) – MARIAN THEATRE
For current Year 10 students with parents/carers

  • Session 1: 7.20-7.55pm
  • Session 2: 8.00-8.35pm

Year 10 Applied Learning (2024) – P.E. CLASSROOM (entry via Marian Gym)

  • Information Session: 7.20–7.50pm

Year 11 VCE Vocational Major (2024) – P.E. CLASSROOM (entry via Marian Gym)

  • Information Session: 6.30–7.00pm

Early in Term 3, students have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the subject selection process. There will be information sessions at year-level assemblies and in-class visits during the first weeks of Term 3, particularly for our Year 9 classes to support them with the transition to Year 10.
