Structured Workplace Learning – Years 11 and 12

30/09/2025

Approximately sixty Year 11 and 12 students spent a positive and productive week of workplace experience during our Semester 2 Structured Workplace Learning (SWL), in Week 8 of Term 3.

Many of our Year 12 students saw this week as a great opportunity to build relationships with employers, knowing that they will be seeking work at the end of the year. It is very pleasing to announce that a number of our Year 12s were able to secure full-time apprenticeships and part-time work from this experience alone. Students in Year 12 secured work in the Hospitality, Building and Construction, Sports and Recreation sectors, as well as the Heavy Diesel Mechanic industry.

Many other students reported outstanding learning experiences through this program. Students were able to be learn on the job, gain real-world experience and build their employability skills. Some were able to confirm their career aspirations, while others discovered that particular industries may not be for them – all valuable learning for their futures.

Year 12 student Ryan Foster said that “before this week of SWL, I wasn’t 100% sure if I wanted to be a builder or another type of tradie. After working the week as a builder and getting hands on experience, I now know I want to be a builder. The employer I spent a week with has offered me work during the holidays and work next year!”

Congratulations to all of our Year 11 and 12 VCE Vocational Major students on such a successful week.
