Stock & Land interest in Polwarth program

13/06/2019

As the students in the CMC Agriculture Program prepare the Polwarth stud sheep for this year’s Australian Sheep & Wool Show (ASWS), their success with Polwarths has attracted some welcome interest from a leading rural weekly newspaper – Stock & Land. They are particularly keen for this year’s show where Polwarths are the feature breed.

The College has enjoyed show success in the nine years since the Agriculture program began and a stud highlight was being awarded the champion Polwarth ram at last year’s ASWS. The students are involved in all aspects of the show process, from preparing the sheep, the entries and the equipment required. The show team also meets weekly to prepare the sheep and practise showmanship and handling.

On Wednesday 12 June a photographer from Stock & Land visited the Coolock farm and took photos of some of the students with the sheep. An article featuring the CMC Polwarth program will appear in Stock & Land on 27 June 2019 in the Australian Sheep & Wool Show special publication where the Polwarth breed is a special feature.
