Still Life on Show

10/08/2022

Year 10 Art students have just completed a unit on Still Life Drawing. They students produced several drawings in different art mediums, including graphite, charcoal and pastels.

The task was a practical way to explore the historical use of the still life in art. Students learnt about the early Flemish nature painters who studied flowers to the finest detail. They also discovered that the use of still life in artworks was a metaphor to remind us of our eventual mortality.

Some of these pieces were shown in the recent Winter Exhibition in the Marian Foyer, held in conjunction with the Winter Concert.

Families were rewarded for coming out on a cold night and thoroughly enjoyed both seeing and hearing the work of our talented artists and musicians.
