State Swimming Championships 2023

SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA – STATE SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Our Swim Team competed at the SSV State Swimming Championships at MSAC on Friday 28 April. Congratulations to all team members; the competition was intense, and all our swimmers displayed excellent skills and determination.

Zarah Reynolds had a brilliant competition, finishing second in her 50m Freestyle event. This was an excellent performance, and she was only a few milliseconds away from first place in what was a very tight finish.

Our 14yr Girls 4 x 50m relay team also put in a fabulous performance in their race They had a strong start and maintained a consistent pace throughout the race. Their changeovers were well executed, and at the last change, Zarah Reynolds was able to catch up on the other teams, taking the girls from sixth place to third place in the final 50m. Her speed, momentum and confidence from her previous race were evident and built on the work of the first three swimmers to deliver a terrific result for them all.

Overall, the State Swimming Championships was a highly competitive event that showcased the talents of the best swimmers from across the state. All our competitors put in excellent performances on the day and were a credit to the College. The results of Zarah and our U/14 Girls Relay Team to secure second and third places respectively, is a testament to their hard work.

• Girls 14yr 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay Team (Holly Hembrow, Zoe Reynolds, Olivia Douglass, Zarah Reynolds) 3rd
• Girls 17yr 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay Team (April Downing, Zara Bibby, Anneliese Robins, Telani Bibby) 5th
• Girls 17-20yr Medley Relay Team (Telani Bibby, April Downing, Zarah Reynolds, Zara Bibby) 6th

Congratulations to all involved on firstly qualifying for this event, and secondly competing brilliantly on the day. Thanks also to Mrs Karinda Hogan for attending the day with the students.
