Sheep and Wool Show Success

23/07/2018

The Catherine McAuley College (CMC) Show Team had a successful weekend at the Australian Sheep and Wool Show.

The Polwarth competitions were held on Friday and students successfully showed our six Polwarth Ewes and assisted other breeders showing their Polwarth Stud Sheep.

Although not as successful as in previous years, we were placed in two classes and placed first in the Progeny Group of three Polwarth Sheep bred by the Exhibitor.

The Polwarth Sheep Breeders Association once again ran Junior Sheep Handling and Fleece Judging competitions. This year in memory of Geoff Kemp, who was a huge supporter of the CMC Polwarth Stud, a Junior Section Overall Winner Trophy was established, to be awarded to a student who participated in both sections and achieved the highest number of points. The inaugural winner of the Geoffrey A. Kemp Memorial Trophy was Year 9 CMC student, William Cole.

The individual winners of the two classes were;

  • Junior Sheep Handling Winner: Chloe Holmes
  • Junior Fleece Judging Winner: William Cole

Students were impeccable in their attention to their duties and their willingness to help. They were a credit to themselves and our College and we congratulate them on their efforts.
