Senior Music Performance Evening

27/06/2019

On May 28, the senior music students had their performance recital assessment evening. These performances make up 50% of their class mark each semester and the students work consistently throughout the semester to make sure that their program is at their best performance level.

There are a variety of instruments in the cohort this year, from orchestral to contemporary instruments, and this year we had the pleasure of hearing two original digital compositions by Gabriel Pleta.

We have recently had a wonderful recognition of the work of the students involved in both concert bands when they were awarded Gold Standard for being at the top performance level of their sections. The students are all involved in a range of events and activities beyond the school which further their performance skills; from being involved in local musical theatre productions, community bands and we now also have an orchestral contribution to celebrate.

Just last week, Maya Flood was confirmed as having been successful in her application to be involved in the Orchestra Victoria regional workshop coming to Bendigo in July. Maya will be among 60 students from the region selected to participate in a workshop culminating with a magnificent concert where they perform with Orchestra Victoria at Ulumbarra Theatre on 25 July. This is a free evening concert and would be a fabulous opportunity to enjoy a professional orchestral performance, as well as supporting Maya. We look forward to hearing her performance.
