Sandhurst Switches Off

02/04/2019

On Friday 22 March, the students and teachers at Catherine McAuley College participated in Sandhurst Switches Off, a day where lights and other common uses of electricity in the school were switched off.

The day is more than just lights out – it’s a symbol of our commitment to be part of the solution to climate change and is done in solidarity with those whose suffering is caused by climate change. While this is only a yearly event, it’s a reminder to us that we need to be conscious of our energy usage every day, so that there is a habitable planet for future generations.

The United Nations have reported that we have only twelve years left to limit a climate change catastrophe, which makes it more important than ever that we commit ourselves to preserve our earth and minimise our impact upon it.
