SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA – SANDHURST DIVISION

TENNIS

Junior

On Friday 8 March, the Junior Tennis teams competed at the Sandhurst Divisional competition.

All CMCB teams started strong against Weeroona College, with convincing wins across all games. In the next round, against Bendigo South East College, the three boys’ teams won in straight sets, whilst the girls won two sets, and lost one. After lunch, the boys faced a competitive East Loddon P-12 College mixed team but were able to win all three sets. At the same time, the girls played Victory Christian College and won two, and lost one. In the final round, the girls were outplayed by eventual winners Girton Grammar School, whilst the boys had a convincing win against Crusoe College.

Overall, it was a fantastic day at the Bendigo Tennis Centre, with the boys taking home the trophy and the girls finishing as runners-up for the day. The CMCB students all demonstrated brilliant teamwork, communication and support for each other and should be proud of their efforts.

Intermediate

CMCB’s Maree Pearce hosted a fabulous day as teams from the Bendigo area gathered to play tennis at the Nolan Street Complex. CMCB was represented by twelve fantastic students from Years 9 and 10, who played competitively all day in beautiful conditions, demonstrating skilled rallies and great technique.

The boys were successful on the day winning all matches and were presented with the Kel Pell Trophy. They will now go through to the next stage of the competition – the Loddon Mallee Regional Finals to be held in Mildura in April.

The girls also played extremely well losing just 1 match on the day to finish as runners-up of the Mollie Sandner Cup.

Another very pleasing day of results for the teams from CMC.

Our Senior Boys Tennis Team took on Bendigo Senior Secondary College in the Sandhurst Division Competition on Friday 15 March. Playing both singles and doubles formats, CMCB put in a spirited performance against strong opposition, eventually going down 5 sets to 1 (31 games to 15). A special mention to Oscar Cail who took home CMCB’s only set for the day, winning 6-2 against his BSSC counterpart. Well to all players for their consistent effort and excellent sportsmanship throughout all matches.
