Principal’s Update – 16 July 2021: return to Remote Learning

16/07/2021

The Victorian Government has directed that all Victorians follow the rules for a Stage 4 Coronavirus lockdown. At this stage, the restrictions will be maintained until Tuesday 20 July 11.59pm. In time, the College will be directed on re-commencement next Wednesday, 21 July 2021, however we are preparing for the potential of a longer period of remote learning.

Today, Friday 16 July, is a designated planning day to prepare for remote learning on Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 July 2021. For the remote learning days next week, students will follow their normal timetable and should refer to SIMON for links to class materials and Google Meet links.

As with the previous lockdowns, children who are vulnerable and the children of essential workers will be offered access and supervision at the College – please complete the COVID-19 Arrangements: Students who need to attend school Form. Please understand that the College is closed, except for those students. Those approved students will be completing the Remote Learning Program in the Sister Aloysius Martyn Building at Coolock commencing Monday 19 July from 8.45am. Buses will still be operating for those students.

Yesterday afternoon, students were advised to take their laptops home in case a lockdown ensued. If your child/ren did not take their required learning resources home then they may collect items from lockers on Monday 19 July between 8am – 9am. A QR Code/sign in arrangement will be in place.

Our main concern continues to be the safety and wellbeing of all members of our school communities. This remains the focus of all local decisions.

Kind regards

Brian Turner, Principal
