Principal’s Update 13 October 2022 – School Closure and Remote Learning
13/10/2022Dear Parents and Carers,
Due to the current flooding situation, we are writing to advise you that Catherine McAuley College will be closed on Thursday 13 October.
During this time no one is to be present on either the Coolock Campus or St Mary’s Campus.
Students will enter into remote learning during this period.
- Students should follow their usual timetable. Teachers will send students an email directing work to be completed and post this to the “Notes” section on the class page on SIMON.
- If teachers choose to run a Google Meet during their lesson a link will be available for students.
- Assessment tasks and SACs are postponed to the next appropriate lesson. Teachers will communicate this with their class.
- Students studying external VET classes should not attend but rather stay at home today.
We are aware that there are power outages hitting parts of our region now and likely through the day, so it is understood that students and staff may not be able to access google meets or access emails.
At this stage school will resume on Friday 14 October, however I will be in further communication with you once this can be confirmed.
We will continue to work with Catholic Education Sandhurst Ltd, Mercy Education Ltd and the emergency services to ensure the safety of our school community members. We remind school community members of the importance of keeping safe and not travelling through flood waters.
I would like to thank the school community for your support during this time.
Yours sincerely,
Brian Turner, Principal
