Orchestra and Cast Gather Together for Sitzprobe

30/05/2023

Our College’s musical production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is just two weeks away and we have begun the process of finalising all aspects for performance. This starts with our ‘sitzprobe’, the first complete rehearsal of a musical with the orchestra and singers. During the sitzprobe, the musical director, Ms Deb Ross, ran the cast and orchestra through all the musical numbers in the show without staging, sets or costumes. The goal of the sitzprobe is to concentrate on the music; it’s a chance for singers and instrumentalists to get used to performing together.

In the orchestra we have the combined musical talents of senior students, alumni, staff and guest musicians:

  • Students: Lachlan Eadie (Year 10), Thomas Sparrow (Year 11) Sarah Duane (Year 12), Tamara Duane (Year 12).
  • Alumni: Samuel Angove, Jemma Muro and Kiara Clarke.
  • Staff members: Mr Jeremie Collard, Mr Paul Hunt, Mrs Meg Martin, Ms Ashleigh Yeates, Ms Penny Ingwersen, Mr Mark Thompson.
  • Guest musicians: Ms Karin Van Poppel, Ms Eliza McKenna, Mr Adam Burke, Mrs Cathy Moore.

The professionalism and talent of these musicians was wonderful to hear alongside the melodic voices of the cast.

This rehearsal was made all the more fun by the cast joining in a casual pyjama day in order to kick back and enjoy the opportunity to sing the tunes they have been learning for the last couple of months. Excitement is building within the cast who are perfecting their characters and performances.

Tickets are selling fast for our technicolor dream, so don’t miss your chance to imagine and dream about what is possible. We hope to see you there!
