National Youth Science Festival Participants Speak at Rotary Club

19/03/2025

On Tuesday 4 March, two Year 12 students, Caleb Tobin and Isabella Makris, were invited to a general meeting of the Bendigo Rotary Club to report back on their participation in the National Youth Science Festival (NYSF) over the summer break.

Three Catherine McAuley College Bendigo (CMCB) students were sponsored by the Rotary Club to attend this prestigious festival, taking place in major cities across Australia for high-achieving STEM students entering their final year of high school.

Caleb went to the festival in Canberra and spoke about his interest in Engineering and the variety of opportunities he participated in as part of the festival, including looking up close at aeroplanes and some of the earliest diesel vehicles produced in Australia.

Isabella attended the festival in Brisbane and spoke about her interest and motivations for studies in medicine, and about various organs and specimens she viewed in a museum tour with her group.

Both students carried themselves extremely well, and fielded a range of questions from members of Rotary, who were delighted to hear about the amazing opportunities the students were given as a part of the festival.

Thanks again to the Bendigo Rotary Club for their support of CMCB students by sponsoring part of their trip to participate in the National Youth Science Festival.
