Mental Health Week at St Mary’s

20/09/2018

Over the last week at St Mary’s we have had a broad range of activities to promote Mental Health Week and R U OK? Day. It was a pleasant entry to the week and a nice change to hear music in place of the bell at each transition, as well as to look down and see some coloured chalk messages on the ground. It took some pressure off thinking about the next class or what was on after the break.

In the library, we had a guessing game where there were pictures of staff members as children and you had to guess the staff member, which was interesting. On Wednesday, we had ‘Rock on the Steps’ to entertain crowds with some cool tunes, and a BBQ held by the VCAL students. At lunchtime on the Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, there were multiple different food and drink stalls run by the two Year 11 VCE Business Management classes with all profits going to Mercy Works. On the Thursday, students also had the opportunity to wear the PE uniform with a touch of yellow, as the main act of solidarity for R U OK? Day. The week was also assisted by beautiful weather to complement each activity.
