Mental Health Week 2025 at St Mary’s
15/09/2025Mental Health Week at St Mary’s and RU OK? Day
Mental Health Week at St Mary’s Campus brought connection, care, and community into focus – but our commitment to wellbeing doesn’t end here.
From lunchtime activities to friendly competitions, we’re building a culture where mental health is supported every day.
St Mary’s student leaders took charge of organising activities and raising awareness of Mental Health Week. At St Mary’s Campus, this took place from Monday 8 to Friday 12 September.
Tuesday’s St Mick’s Picnic brought people together for a barbecue lunch , fresh fruit, music and activities, including a 3-legged race and wheelbarrow race.
In the Marian Gym House Cup games and events, the annual Staff v Student Year 12 Netball Match, pickleball and table tennis.
The library was a hub for lunchtime fun throughout the week, including the pet photo board, affirmation wall, Kahoot trivia, board games and knitting with Linda. The library’s For R U OK? Day Creative Competition encouraged students to bring out their creativity through encouraging drawing, painting, digital art, writing, poetry, music and more, with a canteen voucher and blocks of chocolate for the winners.
The Wellbeing Team provided information about the 5 Ways to Wellbeing throughout the week and on Wednesday, a pupil-free day, students were encouraged to explore wellbeing apps for meditation and Smiling Minds.
RU OK? Day – Thursday 11 September 2025
The Student Leadership Group kicked off the day by warmly welcoming students with a cheerful hello and a yellow ribbon – a symbol to remind us all of the importance of checking in with one another, not just today, but every day.
Staff gathered for their annual chocolate morning tea and then, at lunchtime, the traditional Staff vs Students netball match took place in the gym. As always, it was fiercely contested but for the first time since 2018, the staff team emerged victorious (perhaps it was all that chocolate)! Most importantly, it was a fantastic lunch hour, filled with connection, laughter, and a strong sense of community.
Well done to all who organised and got involved in Mental Health Week activities at St Mary’s!
