Maya Flood’s Orchestra Victoria Experience

29/07/2019

Maya Flood was one of our first intake of students into the free Year 7 classroom instrumental music program, where she started learning clarinet.

Right from the early stages she showed her potential and devoted many hours to developing her musicianship. She also started playing the saxophone in Year 8 and has been an integral member of the Concert Band and Stage Band. Maya has successfully completed several Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) grades on both instruments. (Mrs Catherine Moore, Music Teacher)

Recently Maya was selected to take part in Orchestra Victoria’s ‘On the mOVe!’ Program:

“I had the great opportunity to take part in Orchestra Victoria’s intensive 3-day program where students from around Victoria were tutored by some amazing musicians who helped us to develop our skills on our instruments.

“We also had many orchestral rehearsals and put together repertoire that we had been working on throughout the school holidays, which we performed at Ulumbarra Theatre.

“It was an amazing experience and I believe it really helped me to grow as a musician.” (Maya Flood, Year 10)
