LEGO – Brick Battles

24/06/2020

Catherine McAuley College has developed its own ‘LEGO Masters’ style competition which has so far been run in the St Mary’s library over three lunchtime sessions.

Working in teams of four, the participants make whatever they want, with each team allocated exactly the same number, colour and style of bricks. ‘Expert’ Judges were on hand at the end of session to critique each build before announcing the winners.

It was great seeing the students strategize differently and come up with unique ideas. All teams put together some incredibly creative models – congratulations to all involved.

Congratulations to the following students who depicted a brilliant tale of a sea monster about to attack a small island to win Round 1: Jaksa Uren, Damian McCarthy, Tim McNaughton-Perry and Guransh Marwah.

Round 2 winners were: Joshua Hancock, Mitchell Worme, Benjamin Wallace, Jesse Alexander with a brilliant interpretation of Robot Battle Wars ‘Good vs Evil’. They defeated a rather detailed and well thought out model of ‘4 Lands, Desert, Water, Mountain and Forest’.

Our LEGO Competition has now concluded at St Mary’s. The competition will continue at Coolock next term. This activity has been created to link in with Mental Health Week in Term 3.
