Intermediate Girls Soccer Team Heading to State Finals!

The Intermediate Girls Soccer Team has done it — crowned Regional Champions after a powerful performance on the pitch to earn their place at the State Championships this September! Our team showed grit, skill, and sportsmanship as they dominated their way through the regional competition.

Game 1 vs Rochester Secondary College: 7 – 0 WIN
The girls started strong, setting the tone for the tournament. Crisp passes, solid defence, and relentless attacking saw the girls comfortably take the win whilst retaining a clean sheet. This game was quite rough, with Rochester playing it a bit like football at times, however, the girls were able to overcome their physical style and seize a well-fought win to start the day. It was a fantastic all-around team performance!

Game 2 vs Bendigo South East College: 1 – 1 DRAW
In a tightly contested match, both teams showed real fight. The highlight in a game that had it all was an incredible headed goal by Madeline White from a powerful corner kick from Sophie Healy that left the crowd in awe and the scoreboard level. A true moment of brilliance that kept our hopes alive and momentum going. Both teams were evenly matched throughout the contest, with neither team able to score a second goal. This draw then put pressure on the last game of the day … with goal difference ultimately being the deciding factor on which team would win the day.

Game 3 vs Mildura Christian College: 20 – 0 WIN
Yes, you read that right — 20 goals in one match! This was a show of attacking flair, with every player stepping up and delivering. The girls’ teamwork and determination were unmatched, as they finished the competition in emphatic style. Mildura were definitely outclassed; however, their goalkeeper made some incredible saves and prevented the scoreline from being even higher. This emphatic win saw the team secure the Championship with an +8 goal difference from BSE.

Thank you to Ms Pearce and Miss Cullen for their support during the day and Ms Speed in the lead up to the event. Thank you to all the parents who came and showed their support for the girls. All eyes will be on our games in Melbourne on 9 September 9.
