SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA – STATE FINALS

BOYS NETBALL

On Monday 28 August, the teams of Junior, Intermediate and Senior Boys travelled to the Waverley Netball Centre to participate in the SSV Boys’ Netball State Finals. Congratulations to the Intermediate Boys who won the Grand Final in the last five seconds in what was a thrilling finish to a fantastic day.

Intermediate Boys

The Intermediate Boys came into the day undefeated so far and determined to keep it that way. They won their first two games comfortably, however in the third game against Western Heights College, they only won by one goal in the last minute. This win secured them the top place in their pool.

Unfortunately, at this point, Llogan Mayman went down with an injured ankle, and this initiated a huge shake-up, with many players being shuffled to different positions and feeling increased pressure. The boys went on to comfortably win the semi-final and secure a place in the Grand Final.

For the Grand Final, the team was once again up against Western Heights. The boys knew that this was going to be a tough match, and with no time in between games, they had to gather themselves and stay focused. The entire game was played goal-for-goal, and with a minute left to play, the scores were level. Both teams had opportunities to take the lead however, the intensity of the match saw many skill errors and intercepts occur. With just five seconds left on the clock, the boys managed to get the ball into the goal circle and score to secure an epic win 22 to 21. It was a brilliant and well-deserved win.

Senior Boys
