SCHOOL SPORT VICTORA – SANDHURST DIVISION

Cricket Final – Intermediate Boys

On Friday 17 March, the Catherine McAuley College Intermediate Boys cricket team took on Bendigo South East College in the final of the Sandhurst Division. The scene was set for a wonderful day of cricket with perfect conditions and a fantastic outfield at Ewing Park.

Captain Taj Taylor won the toss and elected to bat. Openers Hugh Behrens and Xavier Grant got the team off to a flying start with multiple boundaries inside the first five-over block. However, a flurry of wickets prompted by some poorly executed shots resulted in CMC being 4/51 and in need of a partnership.

Miller Armstrong and Taj Taylor batted smartly, allowing CMC to build nicely for some late-order fireworks. CMC finished the innings on 8/142 off their 20 overs.

BSE started their innings steadily and were able to keep themselves in the game with some clever shot selection. CMC maintained the pressure with the ball, with the spin twins, Eamon Austin and Angus O’Brien, putting the clamps on. Wickets were shared amongst the bowlers and BSE finished on 7/120 off their 20 overs.

CMC were victors by 22 runs and now progress to the Loddon Mallee Division Finals to be played in Term 4.
