How many people does it take to put on an art show?

05/09/2022

This was the focus of the recent VCE Art Industry excursion to Melbourne. Our senior VCE Arts students toured a range of diverse types of art galleries, from small independent spaces through to larger galleries such as the National Gallery of Victoria. They met curators, education officers, gallery managers and attendants and heard about other roles such as technical assistants and invigilators.

The students will now use this experience in their practical and written assessments. They are already looking forward to the VCE Arts trip for 2023.

Thank you to our Coolock art teacher, Mrs Louise Richardson, for accompanying us. She plans to share the senior students’ gallery experiences with her Years 7 – 9 students, to inspire them about the VCE Arts options ahead.

Tour included: Gertrude Contemporary, Preston; The Australian Galleries, Collingwood; Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Southbank; RMIT for a presentation on applications for folio courses in Art, Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, Marketing, Fashion and more; NGV to see A Century of Picasso; and The Buxton Collection – digital and animation gallery, Southbank.
