Horses join the class

27/11/2019

As part of the unit ‘provide basic care of mammals’ Animal Studies students participated in a horse husbandry session. We were fortunate to make use of the Trade Training Centre pavilion and have two horses join us in class.

During the session, students learned about horse health including what regular treatments horses require, as well as some of the common health concerns that owners may encounter. Every student produced a diagram to show how horses could be recognised from one another using factors such as colour descriptions, height and breed. Horses were one of four placental mammal species studied during the unit.
