Fun and colour for Mercy Day 2023

28/09/2023

On Friday 15 September, the sun shone as students and staff came together as a Mercy community to celebrate Mercy Day. The day was filled with warmth, hospitality and joyful celebration. Students and staff dressed in fun, house-coloured costumes created a colour explosion across the Coolock campus.

The Mercy Day liturgy was held for the first time in the newly opened Mercy Junortoun Sporting Precinct and was led by our Student Representative Council members and College Choir. The liturgy was a beautiful tribute to the legacy of Catherine McAuley and the Mercy Charism. At the end of the liturgy, we announced our recipients of the Spirit of Catherine Awards, which are presented to two students per year level who strive to live out the Mercy Values of Respect, Justice, Compassion, Courage, Hospitality and Service. Click here to read about the Spirit of Catherine recipients for Term 3, 2023.

After the liturgy, our College transformed into a vibrant carnival, welcoming all to celebrate together and raise much-needed funds for Mercy Works, while having fun. McAuley Square was a buzz with students participating in Rock in the Square, playing games at the student-led Mission Marts and enjoying the Carnival Rides.

Thank you to everyone who attended the celebration and was able to give to a worthy cause.
