Farewell to the Year 12 Class of 2018

01/11/2018

2018 has been a year of ‘firsts’ for Catherine McAuley College, being the first year with our new name.

The very first cohort of Catherine McAuley College graduates had their final day at school on Thursday 25 October, beginning the day by sharing breakfast with staff in bright sunshine.

An assembly with the whole College followed the breakfast, bringing together students from Years 7 to 12, staff and parents to begin our rituals of farewelling our Year 12 students in a positive and dignified way, celebrating their achievements and the end of their six-year journey at our College.

In addition to farewelling the Year 12 students, other highlights of the assembly were the performances by Year 12 music students and a nostalgic number from their Year 9 Production ‘Hairspray’.

Special guests from Scope made a presentation to our senior VCAL students, showing the high level of mutual appreciation and warmth that has developed through running the Balloon Football League.

The announcement of the house cup placings was ‘pop’ular, with six balloons being burst in turn to reveal coloured glitter for each house. And the winner was … Champagnat!

At the end of the assembly, the Year 12s walked out to ‘It’s Time’ by Imagine Dragons – processing through the assembled Years 7 to 11 students, staff and parents.

Following the VCE examinations, students will return for Graduation Mass on Thursday 22 November in the Sacred Heart Cathedral and celebrate afterwards at the All Seasons with their parents.
