Exploring Wetland Systems and Native Species

03/05/2023

On Monday 1 May, VCE Unit 1 Environmental Science students spent the day at Kyabram Fauna Park, where they were provided with valuable insights into species diversity within a wetland ecosystem, as well as the protection and management of Australian native species.

Students collected quadrat and transect data within the park’s wetland ecosystem and viewed the animals and enclosures within the fauna park.

Meeting the free-roaming animals, including Kevin the kangaroo, was a highlight, although Kevin did enjoy taking a nibble out of one student’s work. The group also enjoyed watching the meercats which have only recently been introduced into the park.  A really great day was had by all.
