Exploring Artists Inspires Arts and Technology Students

Our Community and the Arts

Bendigo Open Studios: 10 – 12 October 2025

The Arts Team of Catherine McAuley College Bendigo (CMCB) strongly encourages our students and families to visit Bendigo Open Studios, as the practice of viewing other artists’ work and practice is key to a successful arts student. Artists in the Bendigo community provide unique insights that reflect our world in many different ways, through a variety of lenses.

Exploring established artists is a method that we encourage our senior arts students to use, so please consider taking a trip around town to explore the amazing artist practitioners in our region. This event might just be the spark that influences our next generation of artists and designers, encouraging them to creative ventures in the future.

CMCB arts students have a connection with two of the artists opening their studios – Ms Amber Collet, Arts and Languages Teacher, and Ms Libby Noblet, visiting guest artist who ran a workshop with our Textiles students,

Bendigo Open Studios is strongly supported by local artists and arts organisations, including Bendigo Art Gallery, La Trobe Arts Institute and the Bendigo Creative Emporium.

Student Folios and Term 4 Showcase

The students selected artists to research, then undertook a broad and innovative range of practical experiments and small art studies. They documented their findings in their visual arts journals. Based on this research, they explored unique, individual ideas that began as personal inspiration informed by exploration of how established artists work to develop their own artworks. Our Senior Arts teachers used this method to help our VCE Arts students create individual artworks which were submitted as their final folio pieces at the end of Term 3.

This well-established artistic process is used to influence art making in our Arts program; it develops key skills in working with various art materials and fosters innovation in creating different artworks.

Our senior students completed and submitted their pieces at the end of Term 3. They are now working with Senior Arts and Technology staff to showcase to our community their work in the subjects Art Making and Exhibiting, Media Visual Communications and Product Design Technologies. A big thank you to the versatile Mrs Nicole Villani, Arts and Technology Technician, who is working with students to exhibit these pieces at St Marys’ Campus

We look forward to celebrating our students’ artistic achievements with you in the coming weeks.
