Curiosity and Conversations at Careers Night

01/06/2023

The Catherine McAuley College (CMC) annual Careers Night, held on 23 May, was an enormous success with 55 organisations and 160 professionals in attendance to provide valuable information to students and families.

The Marian Gymnasium was filled with curious students and families, eager to engage with stall holders and gather important career, course and vocational information to assist in planning their futures.

Attendance across all year levels was fabulous, with a steady stream of people through the gym for the duration. Furthermore, the event was augmented by the participation of over 90 Marist College students and staff, who embraced the opportunity to combine with our College for the evening.

As in previous years, students were praised for their initiative and level of interest with many positive conversations taking place.

Overall, this was a very well organised and beneficial event for all parties involved. We felt very welcome and appreciated, so thanks very much for inviting us to take part. (Dean Cosgriff, Bendigo Community Health Services)

Thank you so much for having us and for running such a great event. Your students and families were all absolutely lovely to chat with.(Matthew O’Toole, Marcus Oldham College)

La Trobe Bendigo were thrilled with the opportunity to have academic staff from a range of areas speak to CMC and Marist students about our courses and early entry pathways. Our whole team were super busy all night and had a high number of really meaningful conversations with students and parents alike. Thank you for having us!” (Rani Hogan, Advisor, Domestic Student Recruitment, La Trobe University)

We had a wonderful time at the CMC Careers Expo on Tuesday. We were kept busy all night discussing career pathways, work experience and volunteering. Hopefully we were able to help some of the students with their subject choices over the next few years and future career options. I was impressed by the depth of the students’ knowledge and how much research they had already done – it would be wonderful to have them working with us down the track.  Thanks to everyone at CMC for hosting the event and allowing us to promote St John of God Hospital and careers in healthcare. (James Breene, Volunteer & Community Inclusion Coordinator, St John of God Bendigo Hospital)

We would like to thank everyone involved in the event, including the organisations and businesses, the staff who volunteered their time to attend and the maintenance team for getting it all set up.

We are very privileged to be able to host a large event within our community, giving regional students access to a broad range of education, training and workplace information all under the one roof.
