Cricket – Intermediate Boys deliver solid win

SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA – SANDHURST DIVISION FINAL

The Catherine McAuley College Intermediate Boys cricket team contested the final of the Sandhurst competition on Monday 10 October, against Marist College Bendigo at Club Court, Strathfieldsaye.

CMC won the toss and elected to bat on a beautiful morning for cricket. Openers Wil Pinniger and Henry Edwards wasted no time getting into their work, striking multiple boundaries in the early overs before Henry was dismissed with the score on 37. Wil continued to pepper the boundaries and finished on a magnificent 100 retired off 38 balls, including 8 sixes.

Tobie Travaglia with 46 and Judd Gilchrist with 43 ensured that the scoreboard continued to tick over with CMC finishing their 20 overs with an impressive total of 3/233.

Marist set about their chase and got off to a steady start, with multiple CMC bowlers used. A well-executed runout delivered the first wicket of the innings. Marist produced some solid partnerships throughout their innings, to finish on 4/132. Angus O’Brien was the best of the CMC bowlers – taking 2 wickets.

CMC won the match by an impressive 101 runs and now progress through to the Loddon Mallee Regional Finals which are scheduled to be played on Tuesday 25 October.  Congratulations boys on a brilliant performance and good luck at the LMR day.
