Careers News: VTAC Applications are open

VTAC Applications have opened!

This begins an exciting time for our Year 12s as they start to put their course preferences online.  A comprehensive briefing outlining the procedures for all Year 12s was conducted on Tuesday 7 August.  A further briefing regarding Special Entry Access Schemes (SEAS) and scholarships will be held for Year 12 students on Tuesday 14 August.

Individual assistance with this important – and sometimes confusing – process is available by appointment with the Careers Office.

For all up-to-date Open Day information and VTAC information, please see the Careers page on Schoolbox and VTAC website (www.vtac.edu.au)

Colleges ‘Open for Inspection’ on Open Days

For students considering living at the residential colleges when they study away from Bendigo, such as in Melbourne, sometimes making a decision about which residential college or type of accommodation to live in is difficult – with so many options, it can seem overwhelming.

However, by visiting the colleges on Open Days during August, students can get a feel, as they will all be open for tours. Many current students made their choices by visiting on Open Days. It is also possible to have tours at some residences by making prior appointments outside of Open Days as well.

Applying to the University of Melbourne

If your circumstances have prevented you from achieving your best, Access Melbourne can help. The institute has just announced guaranteed ATARs for the 2018 intake for Access Melbourne students.

If you qualify for the Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) categories ‘applicants from rural or isolated areas’ (category 1) and/or ‘disadvantaged financial background’ (category 3), you will be guaranteed a place in one of the following degrees, providing you meet course prerequisites and achieve the minimum ATAR: Science (78), Design (78), Arts (80), Commerce (88) and Biomedicine (92).

To apply for Access Melbourne, apply for the desired course/s through VTAC and complete the VTAC SEAS application form by the closing dates, www.vtac.edu.au
