Congratulations to our VCE and VCAL students on receiving their results on Thursday.

We are delighted with the news that Samuel Angove is the 2019 Dux of Catherine McAuley College. Congratulations Sam and fellow top students Blaze Houlden and Ruby Kane on their excellent results. We also thank them for their enormous contribution to College life beyond their studies.

We are thrilled with the many excellent results of our students, who have been rewarded for their hard work in both the VCE and VCAL – congratulations and we wish you all the very best for the future.

Careers staff are available to offer advice and discuss options from:

  • 10.00am to 4.00pm on Thursday 12 December and Friday 13 December.
  • 10.00am – 4.00pm on Thursday 19 December.

Please note that change of Preference closes on Saturday 14 December at 4.00pm

The anticipation leading up to results and the ATAR, can become all-consuming. Your ATAR is not a reflection of you as a person, or a predictor of your future success. If you have achieved the requirement for your desired course: then excellent.

However, it is important for students and parents to know that there is now a very flexible entry system with multiple pathways to a place at university. Students can enter via early offers, aptitude tests, special entry or equity schemes or moving from certificate or other higher education courses. Once you are on the path to your chosen course the ATAR will be irrelevant.

Now you have received your results, only change or add preferences if you need to, not just because you can. If you smashed your exams and came out with an ATAR much higher than you expected, there’s no use changing your preferences if your dream course is already at the top of your list.

If your results were not as good as you were expecting, make sure you have several options and a good back up plan. The Careers Office can assist you with this and will be open to support you during Change of Preference. In addition, staff are available at all institutions during this time.
