SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA – SANDHURST DIVISION

Junior Tennis

On Friday 7 March, our Junior Tennis teams competed at the Sandhurst Junior Tennis Championships. With brilliant weather, all players had a fun day on the spectacular Bendigo Tennis Centre courts.

Girls

The girls played in a 4-team competition against Bendigo South East College, Eaglehawk Secondary College and Victory Christian College. They started the day well, defeating Eaglehawk 3 sets to 0 in the first round. In Game 2, however, they came up against a very strong team from Victory. There were many great rallies in this match but in the end, Victory were too strong, winning 3 sets to 0. In their final game of the day, the girls played BSE. This was another skilled match, and the girls managed to get back on the winning side of the results, winning 3 sets to 0. The girls finished second overall and were an absolute delight on the day. Congratulations, girls, on a fantastic tournament.

Boys

The boys were in a 3-team competition against Eaglehawk and BSE. Their day also started with a win as they dominated their games against Eaglehawk, winning all 3 sets easily. They then had the bye and finished the day playing BSE in round 3. As both teams were evenly matched, it came down to the last match, where the boys secured the win 2 sets to 1. It was a fantastic win, and as a result, the boys won the day and have now qualified for the Loddon Mallee Regional Finals to be played in Mildura on Tuesday 29 April.
