Book Week 2023 Fun and Competitions

19 – 25 August 2023: ‘Read Grow Inspire’ Children’s Book Council of Australia

All our favourite activities were back in the libraries for Book Week 2023. Thanks to everyone who got involved and showed such creativity and imagination. Keep reading!

Edible Book Competition

Congratulations and a big thank you to all of the students who participated in this year’s Edible Book Competition.

There were twelve cakes on show and they were all fabulous.

Results were:

  • Equal Third Place: ‘Moby Dick’ by Chloe McCullough and ‘Cat in the Hat’ by Kelly Ginnivan, Bella Cail and Laila Cail
  • Second Place: ‘Where’s Wally?’ by Rebecca Hercus
  • First Place: ‘Willy Wonka’ by Isabella Mooney & Ruby King
  • People’s Choice Award: ‘Barbie’ by Lyndal Bannan and Maddy De Haan

Book Week Dress Up Day

This year brought us an amazing turnout for Book Week Dress Up Day with more involvement than ever before. The entrants showed immense creativity and drew character inspiration from a huge range of books. Thank you to all those who participated and congratulations to our winners!

This year’s two runners up were Jazmin Marshall as Nezuko Kamado from Demonslayer and Alyssa Fasham as a dragon from Wings of Fire.

Our winner was Bella Wiegard who dressed up as Harry Potter’s Hermione lego head.

 


Kahoot Quiz Winners

Thank you to all who participated in our book week Kahoot quiz.

It was very close, with the final winners being:

  • Third Place: Chloe, Imogen and Belle
  • Second Place: Edward Lunnie
  • Winner:  Thomas Chaffe

Book Week Poster Competition

The winner of the CBCA poster competition at St Mary’s was Genevieve Nihill.
