What a fantastic day at the 2019 Catherine McAuley College Athletics Carnival! After the postponement from the week before due to bad weather, the rescheduled day was bathed in beautiful sunshine and the attendance and enthusiasm of students was fantastic.
With House Spirit once again the focus, points were allocated to every student who participated in any event, regardless of their result. Well done to all the students who participated with enthusiasm and supported their fellow students.
A wonderful aspect of the Athletics Carnival is that it is so inclusive – whilst a number of students achieved personal best results in races as well as field events, some students were simply engaging in new experiences for the very first time and loving the opportunity to be involved in something that is possibly outside their comfort zone.
The Carnival also doubles as the selection trials for our College Athletics Team, so the challenge to win events comes with great reward, and the determination of many athletes was evident. Two records were broken by Logan Barker in Year 7, which was an incredible result. We also congratulate our Year Level Champions who were outstanding for the entire day across a multitude of events.
It was simply a wonderful day that was thoroughly enjoyed by all and congratulations to Jaara for winning overall. Thank you to the organisers and to the staff who ran the events throughout the day.
