Year 8 Boys Football
On Friday 6 June, the Year 8 boys participated in the Sandhurst Division Football Competition. Held at the Mercy Junortoun Sports Precinct, it was a cold morning, but the boys brought the heat with their enthusiasm and energy, eager to begin their 2025 football campaign.
Supported by three Year 11 students: Lenny McNamara, Charlie Cowan and Carter Reid, who set the tone for the day by addressing the playing group before the start and sharing that some of their fondest memories came from playing school football. It was a pleasure to have these students serving as assistant coaches; their leadership and expertise were highly valued by the team.
Game One: CMCB 9.6.60 defeated Crusoe College 1.3.9
Right from the opening bounce, CMCB took control of this match with strong pressure, clean ball movement and great teamwork. Hudson Svanosio was a key contributor up forward, kicking a goal and working hard around the contest. Louis Travaglia and Tarkyn Ralphs also hit the scoreboard early, helping to build a comfortable lead.
There were standout performances across the ground, with Knox Westley providing plenty of drive out of defence, reading the play well and repelling Crusoe’s attacks. Harvey Young was showing consistent form with strong tackling and pivotal intercept marks. Ryan Packer was influential through the midfield, winning plenty of the football and setting up scoring opportunities, while Louis Travaglia was busy all over the ground.
CMCB’s effort, intensity and teamwork were on full display, and the scoreboard reflected their dominance. It was a strong team performance that set the tone for the day.
