Varied $20 Boss projects appeal to the market

06/11/2020

VCAL Year 12 Senior Services

The Year 12 VCAL Services group agreed to participate in the $20.00 Boss Business Enterprise task before COVID-19 hit. After two false starts Term 4 saw an urgency to complete the projects before the Year 12s finished up.

Once business plans, business cards and risk assessments were completed and an interview with the Business Manager was carried out, the groups began work ready to sell. Two groups decided to sell only internally while the 3rd group sold both internally and externally. There were 3 groups:

  1. Happy Toes. These 5 students tie dyed socks and t-shirts (sold externally only). Resources were donated and bought and these students completed most of their project work at home.
  2. Greenhouse in a Bag. These four students sold succulent cuttings internally. The succulents were donated and they had to organise the plants into genus to make a mystery bag of 5 cuttings.
  3. Flashy Candles. These four students made hand made candles. They used recycled wax that was bought or donated.  All work (melting wax, making the candles) was completed at school and was internally sold.

All three groups worked under pressure to complete (make and sell) their businesses items by a due date. Each group succeeded and made a profit. From the profit $164.30 was donated to the Food Share appeal.

The students and (myself and Louise) would like to thank all staff and students for supporting their business enterprises and making it a success in 2020.
