Year 9 News – 27 February 2025

27/02/2025

Year 9 students have settled in well and are working positively in class on learning tasks.

Students are reminded to bring the necessary materials for each class to ensure they are ready to learn. It is also essential to use their assigned locker and lock it to protect their belongings. Leaving lockers unlocked or sharing them can result in misplaced or lost items.

Unfortunately, a few of our Year 9 bus travellers have required reminders about appropriate behaviour while using the buses. This issue has affected those who use the White Hills Holy Rosary interchange, and those waiting for the late buses here at the College. We ask that you discuss these topics with your child: safety, language, respect for others’ property and the importance of following staff instructions.

Excitement about the upcoming camp is building with students looking forward to a talk from camp providers Adventure Plus on Thursday 6 March. All permissions and the Clothing & Belongings list are available on PAM. If there is a change in your child’s planned attendance, please contact Ms Jo Tobin or Ms Jan Lake immediately.

Year 9 SSGs (Student Support Groups) have commenced, allowing staff to provide feedback and for discussions about supports and adjustments that may be required for those students who require interventions.

Subject news

Media – Students have been familiarising themselves with the components and functions of the camera, learning about the role each function plays in creating an image. Some of the students have been exploring aperture and shutter speed while taking some wonderful photos.

Product Design Resistant Technology – Students are working on demonstrating their knowledge and understanding of Workplace Health and Safety expectations and regulations that apply in the workshop and Australian workplaces. Displaying these safe work habits and safety, students are currently working on building their metal toolboxes.
